There are many cute hairstyles for medium length hair that will work well on any woman. Medium length hair is the most universal and looks good on almost any woman despite her age or face shape. Medium length hair is defined as falling lower than the ears, but higher than the collar bone.

The easiest medium length hair style to try is the long bob. This look is essentially the same thing as the short bob, only a few inches longer. To get this look, have your stylist cut all of your hair at a uniform length around your head, somewhere between the earlobes and collarbone. Long layers can be added for people with flat hair, but avoid any tapering or face framing. If done incorrectly with too much face framing and layering, this look can quickly end up looking like a mullet, so be clear in your instructions to your stylist.

If done correctly, the long bob works with both straight and curly hair. Unlike the shorter version of this style, the long bob has the length necessary to support curls, but doesn’t leave hair long enough that it tangles. If your job requires you to wear your hair away from your face, a long bob will still provide the necessary length to put your hair up.

The next easiest hairstyle for medium length hair is the side-bang. This style puts emphasis on the bangs and not the rest of the cut. To start, have your stylist cut your hair to a medium length between your earlobes and shoulders. The closer to the shoulders, the better this look will work. Make sure she parts your hair off to one side before she cuts. Then, starting on the side of your head with the part, sweep a portion of hair across your forehead to create bangs, and then trim the hair at a soft angle across your forehead.

If your hair isn’t used to having bangs cut into it, it may be tricky to get them to stay in place at first, but rest assured that after a week or so of wearing your hair with bangs, the strands will begin sitting correctly. You can use styling products to help unruly pieces stay in place.

If your hair is limp, try adding braids to give the hair texture and interest. A simple french braid looks lovely, restrains hair, and adds texture. Limp hair works great for french braids and is even preferable for a sleeker finished style. Fishtail braids are also gaining in popularity, but be careful to only have one single braid if you opt for this edgy new style.

No matter what type of hair you have, weather it’s curly, limp, or regular, there are many cute hairstyles for medium length hair that you can try. Play around with different looks until you find something you like. If you are cutting your hair, start with the longest length and slowly shorten your hair. You can always cut more hair off, but you can’t put it back!
